Prefer A Recruiter To Text You Regarding Jobs? 1 Minute Resume Tip

Numerous studies have shown that candidates prefer to receive communication from recruiters via text message. Yet, a sigificant number of reruiters feel it violates candidate privacy until they already have an established relationship via email/LinkedIn or other online platofrm.

Here is a quick tip if you prefer to receive a text rather than an email when a recruiter/HM finds your resume. Change the format of your contact information:

Text: (206) 555–1212

Adding one short word may increase the chance that a recruiter will actually get hold of you immediately.

My own personal practice is to send an email then follow up with a short text: “Hi Chris, this is Kristen Fife, and I am following up on an email I just sent you about an opportunity for a TPM role at a pre-IPO company we are working with.” My personal recruiting philosophy is if I have a copy of your resume/phone number, then you are probably open to hearing about opportunities.
